The 2016 Street Glide is a 'hot-rod bagger' that represents the final year of the High Output Twin Cam 103 engine before the transition to the Milwaukee-Eight platform. As part of the Project RUSHMORE era, it features the iconic Batwing fairing with Splitstream venting to reduce head buffeting and 49mm stiffened front forks. This model year is particularly notable for introducing a narrower primary housing and derby cover to improve leg clearance for shorter riders.

- Inner Fairing Finish — Standard FLHX has a matte/dull black inner fairing; FLHXS has a premium gloss black finish.
- Rear Suspension — Standard FLHX uses air-adjustable shocks; FLHXS uses premium hand-adjustable emulsion shocks (no air pump required).
- ABS & Security — Standard FLHX has ABS and Smart Security as optional upgrades; they are standard equipment on the FLHXS.
